It has been reported that former New York Yankees coach and current Los Angeles Dodgers coach Joe Torre publishing a new book and in this book he blasts his former teamthe New York Yankees. He says teammates frequently called Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez "A-Fraud" among other things. He also says that Rodriguez was obsessed with his supposed rivalry with Yankees shortstop and team captain Derek Jeter. Torre's insight goes into the GM's office as well as Torre claims that Yankees GM Brian Cashman betrayed him many times. When I saw this I was shocked. This reminded me of the Dallas Cowboys not my New York Yankees. The Yankees are know as a team who buys many players and they are hated across the league but they don't really have many locker room issues outside of that on going Jeter & A-Rod fight going on. The New York media could have blown things out of proportion or got an incorrect source which is what I hope happened becuase if this is what happened then I would have lost much of the respect I had for Joe Torre. Torre has been my favorite coach as he led my Yankees to 5 World Series and 11 straight playoff apperances. But if this is true I have lost all respect for Torre. I understand that he could still be frustrated by the Yankees mistreating him at the end of his tenor their but to write a book and blast the team that took him in for most of his career is just ridiculous. When Torre's book comes out we will all see, but until then we can just wait and see all of the things Torre has said.

Joe Torre blasts Yankees in new book

Barrack Obama's great impact on the sports world.
On January 20th, One day after Martin Luther King day we welcomed our 44th president of the United States. 44 and he is the first African American president. He will have alot of pressure on him and will have alot to do but Mr. Obama is not only going to be affecting the world of politics. He will also have a very positive impact on the sports world. We have already seen athletes commenting on how big this is and we saw athletes such as Ray Allen at President Obama's inaguration. We have seen former presidents come in who have a sports background such as George W Bush who was involved in the Texas Rangers francise but President Obama is different. President Obama has a passion for basketball and has played many times and still loves to play.
Swapping the BCS and playoff system
I was thinking about how Barrack Obama said he would make a change in the BCS to adapt a playoff system. It got me thinking. What if the NFL had a BCS system and college football had the playoff system. It would be chaos. So many teams in the NFL would have never would have won championships or came anywhere close with a BCS system. Lets take this year for example. In the NFL BCS it would probably take the top seed from each conference which would be the Titans and Giants and they would face off in the championship game. The Carolina Panthers would never had made it because the Giants had a regular season win over them which in the BCS system would never allow them to be higher ranked. Obviously with a BCS system neither the Steelers or Arizona Cardinals would be in the championship game. Pittsburgh would probably be in the Rose Bowl and Arizona nowhere close to a good bowl game because they ended the season on a bumpy run. The Eagles wouldn't have gotten a good game either because they didn't even win their division and getting in as a #6 seed would probably find them nowhere close to the NFL championship. And then there is last year where the Patriots would have obviously been the #1 seed but the New York Giants wouldn't have come within miles of them and wouldn't have ever won the championship or pulled off the biggest upset in NFL history. Then we look at the college football playoff system that everyone wants so bad. You would probably take the top 25-32 teams and have them play in one big playoff. Have 4 brackets, NCAA March Madness stye and then have them play it out. If this happened it would have looked like Florida at #1 and I guarnetee that Utah would have not made it past the top 8. The championship game would have most likley been USC and Florida. This would of course solve all of the complaining about the BCS and President Obama would be able to focus on our economy and not the BCS. But we wonder, if no one agrees with it then why not get rid of it and add a playoff system. That I do not know but I do know that I would love to have a college football playoff system and we can just throw this BCS BS out the window. A BCS system robs teams of the right to play for a championship and it leaves us all wondering and complaining about how our team is the best and we deserve it. Of course I would hate even more to have a BCS in the NFL but thats not happening any time soon so we don't have to worry. So BCS out, playoff system in and we'll all be happy.
